One of the things that we enjoy the most about our new location in Ballintoy, Northern Ireland is being surrounded by nature. The view from the new hotshop looks out over acres of agricultural land and the nature of the tended fields seem to change daily as the spring season moves forward.
This week we have been working on an order for a limited edition production run of whiskey glasses which will be part of an artisan range of commissioned functional wares for Joyce's Craft Shop in Recess, on the far southwest coast of Ireland.
Working closely to the client's brief, we developed a design inspired by the image of sheep wool snagged on fencing, a familiar sight in rural Ireland. Using the signature techniques of work produced by Benefield Spencer Glass Studio, various canes were used to create a contemporary, lyrical design evocative of windswept Connemara.
